Community Health Centre
Located at Edapalayam village in Thiruvallur district of Tamilnadu, the Community Health Centre, built on a 15 cent area, benefits nearly 30 villages in its neighbourhood. Opened back in November 2011, this 3000 sq ft building has 1 full time doctor and 4 part time doctors assisted by 5 staffs.
The land for the Community Health Centre was donated by the Village Panchayat to circumvent the difficulties faced by people to travel long distance for their medical needs. A nominal fee of Rs.20/- is collected from patients for medical consultation, treatment and medicines. Sugar and Blood Pressure medicines are given to patients for Rs.30/- for one whole month. Today on an average, nearly 70 patients do use these services on a daily basis. Treatments for Eye, Dental, Physiotherapy, Ayurveda and Lab facilities are also available for the community. The Eye/Dental/Lab facility building was sponsored by Rotary Club, Guindy.
Eye and Dental
The Eye treatment facility is being used for regular Eye checkups. Free Cataract operations are done with the help of Sankara Eye Hospital, Pammal and around 12 patients do benefit on these free cataract surgeries each month. In addition, 50 elderly people are given free reading glasses each month, beyond which a nominal fee of Rs.100 is charged.
Spreading the awareness of donation eyes to the needy, we have about 10 people who have registered to donate their eyes.
Udhavum Nanbargal is associated with Indira Dental College, Thiruvallur to provide free dental treatments to the people of this neighbourhood.
Physiotherapy & Blood Donation
Udhavum Nanbargal is associated with Jaya College of Physiotherapy to provide free physiotheraphy treatments to the people of this neighbourhood.
Blood Donation Camp
Blood donation camps are conduted twice a year and on an average, there are about 120 donor volunteers.
Free ambulance services are made available for people in the neighbourhood.
